About Geek Shui

What is Geek Shui Living?

If you have taken time to browse Geek Shui Living, you know that it is primarily a forum for technology-related news and blogs. Originally, I developed the concept of Geek Shui Living and launched the website in January 2007, based on what I saw as a divide being created between our real and virtual lives. The rapid expansion of technology and the internet have resulted in the creation of multiple identities, which we adapt to fit the nature of our activities. The way we communicate in different forums, such as Facebook, Twitter, instant messaging, discussion forums, and other virtual locations is dependent upon the people with whom we interact and the subject being discussed.

In December 2009, I decided to steer Geek Shui Living in a new direction, to reach more than just the business community. I wanted to find a way to extend Geek Shui Living’s reach beyond both geographic and virtual borders, as well as to transcend beyond the typical segregated groups of novice computer users and technical experts. Why? After three years, Geek Shui Living is still more than just a name for me. It is something in which I firmly believe and wholeheartedly feel can help people around the world become better connected. It is an actual art that people can practice, much like Feng Shui, in order to balance their real and virtual lives successfully.

This may ultimately mean different things for different people. For some, it may be arranging their work spaces to facilitate comfortable computing. For others, it may be keeping their real and computer desktops clutter free, in order to reduce distraction and increase productivity. For others, still, it may be perfecting the ability to maintain different personas in real and virtual situations. Ultimately, Geek Shui Living is an open-ended concept. There is no final destination or moment of Zen. It is simply trying to achieve the balance that works for each individual. It is choosing to live the Geek Shui way.

That brings us to our current mission as a Tech News provider. Many people find that simply reading and being up-to-date on the newest advances in technology gives them a sense of fulfillment. Thus, in an effort to spread a little Geek Shui to internet aficionados around the world, we’ve rededicated ourselves to providing the latest news, reviews, and editorial opinions to the world. Our promise is to do so in a way that remains objective and unbiased. After all, journalism, in print or electronically generated, is about not just writing objective news, but asking the questions others may be uncomfortable asking.

Thank you for visiting us! We hope that you’ll return often and invite others to visit, too. Have a question, comment, or idea? We’re always interested in feedback, so feel free to contact us via our Contact page. Thanks again!
