Are you up for joining the 10,000 mile challenge during the 365 days that will make up the year 2013? It’s a Twitter-based initiative concocted by a few of us who love to run and find motivation from feeding off of each other’s positive running vibes, via the technomagic that is social media.
Our goal is plain and simple. We want to cumulatively run a total of (at least) 10,000 miles in 2013. Since a few of us passed the 1,000 mile mark in 2012, we know it can easily be done. What we really want to see, though, is a few more people get motivated by our mileage and commit to their own personal goal. No, this isn’t just for the OCD runners. It’s for everyone and anyone who wants to do more than they’ve done before. Whether your goal is to run 250 miles or 2,500 miles is far less important than the fact that you want to do something to make 2013 one of your best years yet.
Joining #10000in365 is simple. All you need is a Runkeeper account (http://runkeeper.com). Once you have an account set up, you need to add the Runkeeper user “10000in365” as a Street Teammate. You can find the profile here: http://runkeeper.com/user/10000in365/profile
Whether you use the Android or iOS app to track your runs is a matter of personal preference. You can also just manually add your runs after completing them. The important thing is that, when you do log your mileage on Runkeeper, you log it as a “Run” and tag “10000in365” as having completed the activity with you. Doing so will automatically add your mileage to the #10000in365 account and count toward the 10,000 miles in 2013 goal.
That’s all there is to it! Within the next month, we hope to have a running jersey and t-shirt design available somewhere on the Interwebz, so that you can proudly display your affiliation with the #10000in365 project. Wherever it is, you can be sure that it will be available at “cost” and with no profit being made by anyone involved in the project.
So, what are you waiting for? Join us and make #10000in365 a part of your goals in 2013!
