An Early Review of Twitterena 2 for Apple iPad and iPhone

March 16, 2010 - By Alex Miranda

March 16, 2010 – I have the pleasure of following @aweekes on Twitter, who has developed products such as Tweeterena for iPhone, Tweeterena Android,  iBaby Photo Pro, and iHeight. His latest project is Twitterena 2 for the Apple iPad and iPhone. On March 15, 2010, a sneak peek at the application was posted on the Tweeterena website, with the disclaimer stating, “Tweeterena 2 is still in development and some features shown in the ad are not totally complete.” Take a look at the video, and then we’ll analyze what we’re seeing.

So what does the commercial show us that’s so special? The first thing I noticed on the video was that it has the standard icons like Mentions, Messages, Profile, and Search. It also has one I am not used to seeing, which is “Follow Friday.” It looks like it will definitely support multiple accounts considering there is an Accounts launcher clearly visible.

The screens look great on the iPad. Nothing really feels like it is squeezed in, and I did not notice there was a “more” anywhere. It obviously supports landscape and portrait orientations. When you click on a Tweet it gives you Profile, Reply, Retweet, Message, Conversation (which interests me), and a few other useful options. Selecting a profile will give you the number of followers, people following, number of updates, and the option to view a large profile image.

Something else that is cool (and different) is that you can change the background image for your Tweets from the application. The developer does not go into specific detail regarding the complete list of features, but, if the sneak peek is any indication, Tweeterena 2 appears to be very promising. We’re obviously very excited for the imminent release of the Apple iPad, the Apple iPhone 4G (or whatever it’s called), and the new generation of applications that are sure to follow.
